Had to drive to Knott End last night and then back to Manchester it was fucking awful, large areas of standing water all over the roads and motorways. I like to think of myself as a good experienced driver but I was really glad to get back home.

It's going to get worse apparently today as well. Pissing down (no surprise there) in Oldham as I type.

Can anyone tell me what the weather is like in Manchester the weather is poor the other side of York and now it has put out Red severe warning notices in Lancashire. We normally set off at 12 but if it's as bad as here we might set off earlier. Grateful for any updates.

The pitch will be as dry as a chip. Wouldn't bet against 'em watering it!

Pussies. When I were a lad we used to swim down pit at 4 in't morning. Dig out as much coal as we could, so the water level dropped to be able to breath. Back home for a rub down with lard. Then played 50 a side naked in our pit boots.
