Sevilla (A) | Post Match Thread

Superb performance and perfect start to our Champions League campaign. We definitely shouldn’t hear any moaners on this tread now!!! To all those who go on about Haaland only scoring easy tap ins, I would just remind them that you have to get there in the first place and he just does it with ease. Come on let’s have a repeat on Saturday please.

Good performance against a decent Sevilla on a poor run of form. However as the saying goes, you can only beat what's in front of you.

I thought Akanji looked like he'd been at City for years. He tired towards the end, but not only was this his City debut, it was his first game of the season, PLUS he's a new Dad with a balling sprog. He had a calm assuredness which kept the defence calm whenever under pressure. Brilliant debut.

Gomez had a good game too & showed some excellent touches & was defensively sound in the main. He's young & still needs to get to know us better, but if he continues as he is, we may have gone some way to resolving our LB problem.

It was good to see Philips back. We need him as cover/competition for Rodri. Rodri's looked a little tired over the last 2 matches & Philips looked on it when he came on & looks more like the player we expected. Now we'll have the option of the double pivot in tougher games.

That was way better from Foden & Palmer did well & slotted in seamlessly when he came on.

A good first CL Group game of the season. Roll on Saturday...
Spot on, agree with every point

You can only beat what's in front of you. we did it comfortably; Chelsea didn't manage it in their away game.
Some very good performances all over the pitch, and I thought Foden looked top class tonight. Especially pleased about Gomez and Ekanje; the latter looked real quality - a snip at £17m - not up against a lot but looked strong and can really play.
Big one next against the Spursies.

Inspiriing performance especially after villa game. Particularly pleasing to see Cole Palmer getting valuable game time in CL. Love to see local talent being given a chance to perform at the highest level. The future looks bright
