Sevilla (A) | Post Match Thread

I don't care how badly Seville have started their season. The Spanish league is one of the top four leagues in Europe and a 4-0 away win there is impressive under any circumstances. it's even more impressive when you consider we had one chalked off for offside and missed another two or three good chances.

The two plastic southern dippers in the corner of the pub fucked off sharpish at HT for their own safety, after making snide comments under their breath throughout the first half.
This may not be unconnected to an unscheduled conference in the gentlemen’s conveniences involving some of the assembled Berts.
Something to the effect that an expedient exit might be particularly beneficial to their future health prospects, in particular with regards to dentistry.
The ruffians left almost full pints on the table which I gather is atypical of their species

Akanji looked very calm and assured especially considering he's probably only had 1 or 2 training sessions with the rest of the squad. He had an easy game but looked like it was easy for him as well.

Haaland scoring another couple of tap ins which anyone could have scored ;)

Good patient performance and which got us the comfy win in the end. There are opportunities though that we need to make more of when we get chance to counter quick.

Always good to see Palmer as well. Hopefully he starts to have real impact this year. Also Mahrez did ok when he came on - Foden's first touch is getting close to Mahrez levels

A really pleasing result, thought we might find it a little tougher after the shenanigans at the weekend. Akanji and Gomez were impressive and slotted right in. Philips sprayed a good few passes around and Haaland was where he needed to be. Good to see Foden return to some form and he did well for his goal. The kit looked so, so smart.

Minutes for players who needed them and no injuries... combined with a 4-0, so can't complain too much.
Pep must feel he can pick who he wants for the Spurs game as all the players will all be ready.
Nice to see Palmer get more time, maybe the Spurs game is too soon, but he's due a start definitely Copenhagen at home in a few weeks

He was visibly upset at the “defending”. Didn’t want to credit Haaland at all which led to Lescott having to repeatedly jump in to say it’s his movement. Jake was then saying it was only because Sevilla are struggling in the voice of a grave digger.
He was saying how Haaland could be stopped without fouling him, Joleon said to bump into him , stop him getting started on his run. He and Ferdinand were defenders and that is their field of expertise. Unpopular opinion but Ferdinand gives a fair analysis.

Thought we would have the Edge when I saw the Sevilla goalie. Only downside was losing a can of ale down the back of the settee in the first half. And I still haven't found what I'm looking for...
Buy it was surely a Beautiful Day...

I thought we were pretty poor first half, didn't do enough for me, but didn't really have to against the worst Sevilla side I've ever seen, but at 1-0 it's a risk, and they briefly threatened after half time, but once we got the second it was "easy street".

Liked the look of the 2 new guys, who both had steady if reasonably easy games.

Thought Phil was great, and obviously Erling knows where to be, I don't think he'll ever get tired in a game ;-)

Pep seems to use the group games to give opportunities for the youth. Foden played much more regularly in the Champions League games before hitting the first team

Oh oh hahahaha kev says we can only do better when Haaland gets to know how to play with and become more familiar with the players scary thought …
Yeah it is scary but i think it's a bit of both, even though it's getting better every game.
He could press better, but his movement, speed and knack of finding space is really good. But in every game we pass up the chance to give him the ball. Haaland has been on the shoulder of the CH every game but we haven't put the ball through for him to run onto. Once we figure out where he is we'll be making even more chances!
