I remember our games teacher at primary school used to love a 2-3-5. Think he hated Ramsey with a passion. It was the 1970s so I suppose him getting passionate about football formations was a blessing.I still long for natural wingers or failing that overlapping fullbacks with good deliver into the box. Now we have a centre forward who would thrive on it. The only time he gets that type of quality is when Kevin drifts wide. We don't have those wingers with pace. Walker has the pace to overlap but his delivery is lacking and Cancelo is always on his wrong foot for accuracy. I am hoping Gomez can offer something.
I know Pep feels we are more in control when we are more compact and he has been proven right, look at our records, they speak for themselves and I wouldn't want anyone but Pep at the helm. I just can't help imagining a Sane on the left and a Sterling (or the like) on the right with Haaland.
