Seem to be the only one actually happy with that lineup. Assuming Pellegrini has given specific instructions to the team and we slightly alter our game i can see a clear plan for once rather than just a collection of talent pushed together and expected to do something. Soak up the inevitable pressure in midfield, release Yaya from defensive duties and hit them on the break with pace down the wings.

When Yaya plays the 10 role he basically plays the 9 role. I hope he and Dinho are in CM with Nando DM, rather than having 2 DMs and Yaya 30+ yards ahead

I think that's what it will be mate. Hopefully they won't be splitting our whole team apart with 1 pass tonight, that's probably why he's chosen ferns and Toure.

I see lots have forgotten just how bad De Bruyne was is that exact starting formation at the swamp.

De Bruyne will be on if needed, replacing Fernando or Bony depending on score.

I wonder who's supposed to score goals for us, Sterling is poor at finishing, Bony is in bad form, Navas doesn't look like he's ever going to score again, and Yaya hasn't scored since our opening fixture. Here's hoping Otamendi or Kompany can head one in off a set-piece.

Kdb looked tired he played a lot of football this season , good solid team

Good to see Pellegrini thinking about tactics and personnel, like the line up, always have KDB there to change it up, but best to start solid and become adventurous if needed.

Yaya behind Bony again, and Sterling over De Bruyne, in our biggest game of the season so far?

Big calls.

I think it will be more a conventional 4-3-3 and when we are defending we will switch to a 4-5-1. Dropping De Brunye is a big call but I think Pellers is being tactically smart tonight! De Brunye doesn't fit well into a 4-3-3 as we saw against United. And we have him to come on fresh in the second half and go more attacking if we need to.

Happy with that side.

Tonight Sevilla will be all over us as they need the win more than we do so it's suitably defensively prepared for that. Another thing to consider with De Bruyne is he does often give the ball away so perhaps Pellers is considering we want to make as few mistakes as possible here.

This. Love him, but it's true. He gives the ball away quite a bit.

completely depends how Yaya is utilized. If hes jogging around behind WIlf then he'll be useless. Id make sure he drops deep and dictates play to the wingers.

Would have left Yaya out and played KDB.

Course you aren't! It's good to see he's gone for three in centre mid as we've been overrun in there SO many times under him, and with speed down the wings we'll be able to get the ball away from our box quickly. I'm just a bit disappointed in the personnel. Look at the quality of a front three of Navas Bony and Sterling, it's pretty average. But Sevilla aren't a particularly great side and we should come away with a draw tonight.

I don't think he gives the ball away any more than sterling or Navas tbh

You can see why he's done it though. I like the new tactical Pellegrini.

I'm not sure I agree at this stage, if yaya is in the hole. I don't think he can play with his back to goal so won't be much of an outlet ball if they are attacking us (like at OT). He appears to fancy getting at them with pace in the wide areas so I'm prepared to trust that decision, but it's not one I'd have made. De Bruyne should be in the middle every game when silva isn't fit in my opinion.

Let's see. Pellegrini sees them every day and has done his research.

I agree. When Yaya plays in front of the two Ferns what tends to happen is that the ball is played out from one of the defenders to one of the Ferns who then passes it on to Yaya. Its dreadfully slow and means that when Yaya gets the ball his options are limited. If we are to play counter attacking football tonight Yaya needs to be receiving the ball deeper than against United.

Yes, Pelle should be analyzing our away performance in Europe when Yaya plays. I can tell him for free it's shit.

30 yard gap between the Ferds and Yaya will leave big spaces for Seville. Just hope we can get out of there with a draw.
