Shaktar away

Was there a lot of issues with their lot as I’m probably travelling alone ?
We didn't have any issues, but we avoided being obvious, we had 2 days/nights in Kharkiv, had a great time, the only potential issue was after the game when a mob were waiting by the exits, and most were going to coaches to the airport, we spotted it on the way out, went behind the coaches where there weren't any people, walked away behind that, and got a taxi (more worried about the driver killing us tbh), and was back in our hotel in about 10 minutes.

Kiev were at home in the EL the final night we stayed there, but again no issues at all, in fact we ended up in a supermarket buying drinks to bring home at about 1am, and walked (staggered probably better description) across the City centre to our hotel.

I've felt more intimidated late at night in Manchester, then either Kiev or Kharkiv, oh and they had a major political protest in Kiev on one of our days there.

Made my own arrangements last year but it took a week and cost a fortune.
Me and my lad did the whole trip, flights, trains, and hotels for under £200 each, and we spent next to nothing on food (excellent) and drink. One of the best away european trips we've done, and we've done a few, we also met some lovely local people too.

Flew to Kiev and back with BA from Heathrow. Train, first class, to Kharkiv and back (booked online, with tickets printed at home), left and arrived spot on time, and a comfortable journey even though 5 hours.

1 night each way in Kiev, in same hotel, 2 nights in Kharkiv, in one of the best rated hotels on tripadvisor (and it was very very nice).

I also went on the Thomas Cook trip on my own last season and had a great time. It's just a matter of being sensible and remembering that there aren't hundreds and hundreds of other Blues there to even things up a bit if it gets lairy. One tip no-one else seems to have mentioned - don't take any of their currency with you, take cash and change it when you get to Kharkiv city centre. There were loads of place to to this and it really is as cheap as chips to eat and drink when you get there.

Enjoyed the day trip last time. Enough time to have a few and or walk around. Security at the ground was a bit much though.
