'Since he arrived we have worked hard on defending as a unit,' Given added.
'We have worked a lot on shadow play and where he wants everyone to be when we don’t have the ball. He is adamant about how he wants the team to set up.

'He is quite a cool and relaxed guy but he knows what he wants from the team

'I have been impressed by him.'
The Republic of Ireland international also added that while he was disappointed to see Hughes - who brought him to Eastlands a year ago - depart last month, there was no reported player mutiny over the decision.
He said: 'I owe Mark Hughes a lot for bringing me to the club but as a professional you have to move on.

'The owners made the decision to change and they pay the wages.'

He's been teaching them how to defend properly and in a couple of weeks they've learned a hell of a lot.

There's a clue in there he says he's a cool and relaxed guy, but you know there's a steely
determined man underneath who only wants to win

'The owners made the decision to change and they pay the wages.'

And there you have it.

Still early days but many of us predicted, his attitude to defending and our quite frankly shambolic and disgraceful defense has been very very positive so far. Long may it continue.
