Good luck to them, but he's got more money (available) than ours did.

I hope Wednesday can become a PL side again, but they need to upgrade the stadium.

Sheffield Wednesday have been taken over by a Thai consortium led by businessman Dejphon Chansiri.

Chansiri, whose family owns Thai Union Frozen Group, has acquired a 100% stake in the Championship club.

Owls chairman Milan Mandaric, who had been in charge since December 2010, confirmed earlier this month the club were in talks with potential investors.

"I am very excited at the prospect of taking over control from Milan," Chansiri told the club website.

"I believe this club has huge potential and I can assure all our supporters that I will be working extremely hard to bring the success that I already sense from my short time in your city our supporters so desperately crave.

"My son Att, who was a mascot at the recent Blackpool game, is passionate about football and I know will be my inspiration in this project.

"I have made the same promise to him as I do our supporters, he will not let me forget this until we are back in the Premier League."

The deal remains subject to ratification by the Football League.

Remember that dispatches programme a few years back where rich Thais were being offered Wednesday? If Peter Reid or Bryan Robson take the managers job I'll call shenanigans.

Hope they do well. How rich is he in football owner terms, is he Sheikh Mansour level, or Abramovich?

Would be good to see Wednesday back in the Prem and buying players for £30m+, would be another kick in the teeth for the established order of rags & cockneys.

Well with ffp in the championship and coming into the premier league with there turnover at the moment there owner will find it very difficult to spend big bucks! Like Wednesday hope they get to the premier league...

Good news for them hopefully, a couple of my relations are big Wednesday fans, they used to take the piss in a nice way when we were shit compared to them. I always said they were just a few seasons behind is in falling apart now they can follow us back towards the top.

I don't see them making too much noise yes the new owners have money but the FFPR is now in place to stop anything like Chelsea and City who had the base but just needed that BIG MONEY INPUT
to get to that next level

sheff wed need to get to that level of premier league then midtable and then top 6 before any big move the challenge CITY and CHELSEA its going to be a closed shop from now on

All that I could find on Forbes.

Listed as Chansiri and family $580m @2014

Naah, not in that bracket . Same as the people who took over Leicester. Enough to make a difference but not enough to get them to the top. Good luck to them though.

They are going the same route Leicester City went down. Especially with Milan Mandarić having owned both clubs.

Whilst I wish them all the best it must be pretty gutting to be taken over by rich investors and then the reality of FFP dawns. Sheffield United also have a rich foreign owner but now the horse has bolted it doesn't really mean very much anymore. As has been stated previously the turkeys really did vote for Christmas. We are lucky that City stole a march when they did.
