Sheffield Wednesday on the brink… | Enter administration (p30)

The summer has been an absolute sh*tstorm, to the point so much has happened I couldn't be bothered to update on here as I have in the past on EFL matters.

May wages not fully paid
June wages not paid to staff/1st team
HMRC bill for June not paid
Manager expected to be announced as new Leicester City boss later this week
All coaches are out of contract
No Pre-season friendlies scheduled
No new Kit expected
North Stand needs work before season start otherwise a safety certificate will not be issued
Season Ticket money from early bird sales (I bought mine in January for the cheapest price) was most likely used before last season ended to prop up the finances
Any player who has not received May/June wages can give the club notice of contract termination, if the club doesn't pay what they owed within 15 days they can leave for free. I understand several players have exercised that right (good for them)
Work to upgrade the training ground has ceased due to money.
We are under an embargo for failing 2 EFL rules, this would be removed if outstanding debts are settled by Chancer or a new owner
We have a 3 window transfer window ban, and can only sign freebies or loans that do not involve a fee (including agents) with a maximum wage of £7k a week.
Chancer has turned down 2 bids for the club, he originally wanted £300 million (what a joke). The club is worth £40-50m at most, especially as the club doesn't own the stadium, Chancer does after he sold it to himself to navigate PSR rules in 2017/18 (he fucked that up so we got a 12 point deduction, reduced to 6 anyway which ultimately relegated us in 20/21 season)

Everyday there are more stories coming out of the club, football seems a million miles away at the minute, I'm more concerned if we actually start the season. It has Bury vibes about it.

Bottom line is we're royally up sh*t creek without a paddle.

If we do start the season I could see a team made up of U21's and journeymen players that nobody wants, and even they won't appear until after September 1st.

Absolutely awful mate, why aren’t the league or FA questioning this cnut of an owner ..

Moved to Sheffield from Manchester when I was 8 and lived there until 21, still have a lot of mates who follow Wednesday and my dad lives there.
Absolutely heart breaking for a club with fantastic support even in the dark days.
As someone said in the thread earlier if only there were rules to stop this sort of thing.

Can he sell the ground then if he owns it, is that what hes working to?

Hope it works out for you mate..
Cheers m8

It's going to get a lot worse before it gets any better
Absolutely awful mate, why aren’t the league or FA questioning this cnut of an owner ..
The EFL would look to remove him, but he needs to break their rules first. Reading finally managed to oust Dai Yongge as it came to light he had a criminal conviction in China which is against the rules.

Can he sell the ground then if he owns it, is that what hes working to?

My theory is the reason he's not took the money that has been offered so far, is that he owes out more in loans than that would bring in. So he's lose the club but still owe some loan shark millions.

He spunked all his money in the first 3 transfer windows hoping we got promoted (lost in Playoff Final & Semi Final) gambling on black, since then it's been damage limitation ever since.

Could City purchase sheff wed as part of the CFG ?
If only :)

I don't think the EFL have any authority to question him. He can run the club as he wants (as long as it's legal), and asset stripping, for example, is legal I believe. The EFL can take action against the club if they've overspent, but I think not paying wages comes under another branch of the regulations.
The EFL should be able to force him to sell the club if wages are not paid, but that would be in an ideal world and we don't live in one.
