Sheffield Wednesday on the brink… | Enter administration (p30)

I know most from the outside will view it as bad news, obviously they're struggling financially but it appears most Wednesday fans are buzzing because it's forced changing owner and means they can spend money on their club again.

I hope they get out of this relatively unscathed, even if it takes a few years. Hopefully provisions are put in place to prevent the same thing happening again.

Reading between the lines of the BBC article by Rob Staton, it looks as though Chansiri is claiming that it is the fans' boycott of games that has increased the financial pressure on the club, hence he had no alternative but to place the club into administration. Classic case of blaming the victim.

Sincerely hope a responsible buyer is found quickly and good luck to all Owls fans.
Sounds like the perfect owner for Liverpool...

Chansari is the majority creditor so still the shot caller to a certain extent. The move cuts his losses after no serious buyer came forward.

And not forgetting his name was the sponsor on our shirts for 7 years on his tenure. Proper narcissistic behaviour
Sheffield Wednesday. Another success story for the people running the game. On the positive side, the fit and proper persons test and FFP mean that teams won’t get shit owners, can’t go into administration or, even worse, disappear altogether…
At least you didn’t get the ‘football ruiner’ Sheik Mansour…

Seriously mate, let’s hope this is the start of the road to recovery, although how a 12 point deduction affects the idiot who’s brought this on, heaven knows.

I actually think this is a good result for Wednesday, at least at this point in time, they weren't wound up by HMRC as was predicted last week.

I haven't followed it fully, but was the winding up petition just postponed or is it still hanging there ?

The fans might have faced no club at all, at least they still have one.

Good luck to the club from here on, but it's time these sort of owners were stopped, we were very fortunate with our owners, and no matter what people think about some aspects of our club are run, we should still be grateful.

There was no winding up petition, and now the administration stops that happening for several months at least and possibly why it was done.

Some clubs have winding up petitions more than once a year by the HMRC, it just makes sure the club pay. Even if you offer to pay the HMRC and have the money they still go ahead and it gets sorted out in Companies Court. It is rare they get wound up but does happen.
