Sheffield Wednesday on the brink… | Enter administration (p30)

What the fuck does a point deduction actually achieve?
They’ve been mismanaged and have defaulted on debts that the other teams in the league have had to pay. Don’t forget that there will be businesses that dealt with Sheffield Wednesday that might go bust as a result of not being paid and people could end up losing their jobs.

It might not seem it but going into administration and not getting a points penalty could be used as a strategy and so the points deduction acts as a deterrent. It has to be applied.

maybe not 12 points deduction but if a team goes into admin that club can’t be promoted for for two full seasons

Such a shame for a big club like Wednesday but by all accounts the fans have got the owner out which is what they wanted.

What really fucks me off is them being given a 12 point deduction.

Why?

What will that achieve and how the fuck does that help them out?

Really hope they can clear the decks and start again, if someone can buy them and tap into the support and the area they'll be on to a winner as they are a sleeping giant.

Always had a soft spot for Wednesday, proper club with a mint name and stadium. Surely Alex Turner has enough dough to take em over ??
Ha ha

The internal joke amongst Owls fans has always been "they are all blades"

In reality out of the original 4 only Andy Nicholson (original bass player) was a blade, the rest were Wednesday.

Such a shame.
Living in Buxton a few of my dad's mates were Wendy fans when I was growing up.
When ever we played them I went with them boys and stood on the kop.
Proper team .
Proper fans.
And players in the premier league drive around in cars worth millions.
Doesn't sit right with me

Apart from MK Dons and Salford City, which of the 90 other clubs isn’t a “proper team with proper fans”?
The fact PL players drive around in fancy cars is irrelevant.

The problem is what if they stay up at the expense of another team on goal difference or one point? And 18 teams in that league at least don’t get promoted over two seasons anyway so it’s not really a punishment, for an occurrence that’s unlikely to happen.

The punishment has to be instant in my view and at least it is clear in the rules.

Good luck to them though, they do seem to be a decent club and no fan deserves to be in this position.

Can’t blame the players for having an owner like that. You can blame the league system though !

Wish them all the luck going forward. Getting this clown out of the building has to be a start. I presume transfer bans remain even under new ownership? If so, staying up this season is pretty much impossible. I remember my dad taking me to Hillsborough back in 74. Last game of the season needing a win to stay in division 2. Ken Knighton scored late on and the place erupted. They carried him off the pitch at the final whistle. I'd never seen anything like it at that young age. Be nice if Bannen could do similar this season but suspect that would be "unrealistic" now.

I dont get the transfer embargo still being in place now that tossers out of the building............hopefully it wont put of the next owner which may be Mike Ashley which may be a good thing for them ............least he will make them stable and not a madhouse.
