Sheffield Wednesday on the brink… | Enter administration (p30)

Went over to Sheff Poly in the 80s and lived there for many years before we moved to Derbyshire. Travelled over to games at Maine Road and the Etihad over the years with Wednesday mates. Still work there and it's been so sad to see what has happened to my mates' great club. Even many Blades have sympathy for their plight.

The points deduction is there to deter owners from spending what they like and avoiding going into administration therefore putting other businesses in a difficult situation. Not that it deterred the evil little shit in this case.

It's very sad that Wednesday have got to this stage but it's necessary to get rid of that vindictive selfish spoiled brat that has taken a great club to the lowest point in its 158 year history. Now the rebuilding can begin. Whether its the fans owning the club or someone else with the club's interests at heart.

I'm pleased for my friends but sad at the same time. Wednesday will be back.

I see it as a positive day for the club. Administration is enough of a deterrent for most businesses to keep them well funded. Football attracts a special kind if arsehole and the extra points deduction makes it even more critical that Football clubs can pay their bills.

Indeed it's a positive day and I agree with you. Im just sad for my friends they ever had that man anywhere near them for the prolonged pain that he has caused. When were up there in the early 90s under Reid, Wednesday were an even better, lovely team to watch and to have fallen so far and be 25 years and counting since they were in the top flight is a testament to how badly they have been run in most of that period none more so since Chansiri darkened their door. Despite his initial splurge it wasn't sustainable and they paid for it. This season is about preparing for next now realistically and hopefully start to get out of the devilishly difficult 3rd Division where we know all too well you're everyone's cup final. We only got up after that almighty Gillingham fright. Our son's Derby found it hard down there and it took them 2 years to scrape up.

How does one become a millionaire in Thailand? You move to Thailand with 10 million and lose 9 million!

Somehow the owners of Sheffield Wednesday have managed to reverse that outcome.. I didn't even know it was possible but apparently he did so!

Apart from MK Dons and Salford City, which of the 90 other clubs isn’t a “proper team with proper fans”?
The fact PL players drive around in fancy cars is irrelevant.
The logic seems to be: If you watch a lower division team five or six times a season you are a "proper fan". Watch a PL team 30+ times a season and you are a "plastic".

Fair play to the club and the scoreboard operators for really going for it today. That must have been incredible .

This is a video of the above message, fair play to the scoreboard operator and all the backroom staff at the club, can't have been easy these last few years, especially as their wages have been late 5 out of the last 7 months too.

As has been said this season isn't about football, the squad just isn't good enough for this level of football, we'll give it a go but unfortunately it is too much for us.

When we belted out Hi Ho Sheffield Wednesday just before kick off yesterday I'm not gonna lie I choked up, even though we have no idea what's to follow it felt like a relief.

1st half we were poor and Oxford were deservedly winning, they pressed us well and acted on our mistakes 0-2 flattered us.

2nd half we came out and gave it a go, pulled one back and probably should have got something out of the game, on that 2nd 45 if I was an Oxford fan I'd be worried that they'll be joining us in League 1 next season.

Regarding the embargoes my understanding is even with new owners the "No fees including loans" ones will stay until 2027, but If all debts are cleared with new ownership the abilitly to sign free agents can be removed. If we can get this then that will give us some much needed squad depth which we desperately need.

If the fans stick with it ( which they will ) they will be back in the Championship in no time ...........but the new owners surly have to sort the pricing out for starters the pricing is way over he top down there.
Every chance we could be gracing the same league next season and i put money that a ticket at Wednesday will be double ours for in a nutshell the same product.

I'm thoroughly sick of the inverted snobbery about "proper" fans. I'm sure Salford City have proper fans who voted for their orange colours to be restored recently. I'm glad they got their proper colours back!

While we are on this subject I'm going to have my say about Sheffield bloody FC. Sure they're the world's first football club but their "proper" football bollocks is rather wearing and has been for ages. How can they be "proper"? A club with no ambition that doesn't even play in the city and hasn't done for well over a decade. Much prefer Hallam FC near where I used to live. Much more down to earth and much much less of the self righteous pretentiousness.

That is brilliant. I cannot articulate properly how happy I am for you and all Wednesdayites.

I went to Sheffield Poly in 1989 although living up London Road we went to more Blades games when not going to City. Great memories of the city with two proper clubs and good sets of supporters.
Hopefully Wednesday get through this patch as its one of the best away days.

You were well placed on London Road. Love the city. I work less than 10 minutes walk from the Lane though I rarely watch them nowadays. Like you, I saw more Blades games partly through family links but still seen loads of Owls games as it so much more affordable back then. Like you say good sets of supporters though I can tell you that running into the BBC isn't a barrel of laughs! Still, got a lot of time for both clubs. Love the city, the pubs.

Sometimes you have to take a step backwards to go forwards - City are probably the biggest example of that.
I look forward to playing you in the Champions League final in ten years.
