Sheffield Wednesday

Just got back.

First the bad, I thought we were pretty awful for the most part today, and when they went down to 10 men they looked the better team. We were aimlessly knocking it long, I get why we did it and I knew we would as Barnsley press really well, in the 2 league games this led to mistakes by us and they were punished. Norwood is everything Smith for us isn'y, he came on and bullied us, he can play and loves a bit of the shithousing, which I admire.

But god it must have been a sh*t watch on the TV.

I suppose the good, in extra time we finally started to look like we could do it, and their keeper made some cracking saves, Luca Connell is going to have nightmares on that chance he messed up though.

When Vaulks scored we thought we had done it, then resigned ourselves to pens, but man to win it how we did is Roy of the Rovers stuff.

I don't think anybody in the championship will be worried about us on today's evidence, but we need to recruit well in the summer to give ourselves a chance.

Commiserations to Barnsley if they can keep Duff and players like Anderson I think they be up there again next season, I know a lot of their fans hate us but due to working with a lot of their fans I have a soft spot for them.

The lad is over the moon (which makes me over the moon) and the journey back was a great.
I went M1, then A43 towards Oxford and M40 into London which bypassed the M1/M25/North Circular traffic came back the same way and it was pretty easy getting away after the game.

Thanks for all your kind words over the season, it really is appreciated especially as a "foreigner" on this forum.

The big question is why the f*ck did I not book tomorrow off work? :)

I thought the better football was played largely by Barnsley up until the sending off, which I thought was harsh. They had some nice passing moves ,which for much of the match Wed could not replicate,Banner aside.
The wed centre backs both looked calm and composed and ultimately the extra man told.Great goal keeping by Barnsleys no.1 ,some fantastic saves.

A cruel way to lose in the last minute but given they finished so far behind their victors in the league..perhaps justice was done....and what a way to do it,a bullet diving header in front of your own supporters!

Maybe you didn't trust them haha.

I have the same relationship with City, when you start trusting them it usually ends badly (yes even now with the success we have).

I always think, expect the worst, then anything else is a bonus.

Congratulations Wednesday. Promotion the hard way! Will undoubtedly thrive in higher division, whilst I worry about Argyle's chances.

You can thank me for the victory.
I'm 5 hours behind the UK. Went out Sunday night getting in around 3am Monday. Huge hangover. Had set my alarm for kick off but turned it off on setting off.... fell asleep and woke up 50th minute having checked on the BBC website and 0-0.
Couldn't be arsed getting out of bed so rolled over and next thing I wake up and it's on 107 mins and 0-0.
Messed around on Blue Moon, checked BBC again and on 117 mins 0-0.
Got out of bed and turned the TV on in anticipation of another penalty shoot out.
Got Sky on, fetched a bottle of water from the fridge.... sat down and GOAL!
Was a bit disappointed actually ha ha ha but happy for a Sheffield born and bred mate who lives near to me and had flown from Orlando to Heathrow on Sunday

Congrats
