Have wondered similar myself, particularly when Bury went west. From memory, I think the incoming owner admitted he'd never run a football club but was going to give it a go. He'd been " involved" with 50 plus businesses in the past and 40 plus had been liquidated. Bar probably a bit low for "fit and proper person" then?Quick question: The Fit and Proper Person Test has been mentioned a couple of times but what does it involve?
Is it a simple case of checking for criminal behaviour or does it check the intended owner's capability in the role?
For example could I buy a club if I won the lottery just because I've no criminal convictions or would I also have to demonstrate a significant level of business acumen?
I'm talking about standard procedure as I believe someone with a dodgy past was allowed to own Bury as the alternative was them going bust. - In the end they went bust anyway.
