I'm going to check these out pal loved Le Hainelmfao
It's not a coincidence there's a load of French films about inner city life (les banlieues) and policing.
Two good ones from recent years, subject matter is right on the money.
La Haine set the tone, but it's a genre that goes back decades.
loads more out there, two truly great ones I'd recommend tho;
