shooting stars film with city as the back drop

I do mate, I posted a thread about it ages ago as I couldn't remember the name, had a couple of people looking for it too with my vague description, so cheers macca you've made my day :) do you have a copy?
 
been trying to remember the name of that for ages! was it definitely called 'shooting stars'?
it was filmed all around manc, and they used real footage from the city games.
would love to see it again!
 
in was filmed in 1989, in & around manchester, tib street, and fort ardwick , opposite the hyde road bus depot, it was about a player on citys books who was bout to join barcalona , but got kidnapped. i was working @ butlins in b ognor regis , with my mate . but we got sacked and kicked off site, got the early coach from victoria in london but had no where to stay once we got 2 manchester , however we stayed @ my mates godfater who lived in higher broughton who was the starring in this film , he was playing a pimp . we were invited to watch it being filmed . and one of the scenes was this pimp driving down tib street , however he couldnt drive and because the film was " low budget " u can clearly see approx 5 pair of hands pushing the pimp mobile , i think it was " darren " out of eastenders who played the part of the city player

I remember it as a couple of lads I went to school with got a very small bit part where some kids were nicking the wheels off a car if I remember correctly. Was it the one with the guy who came and parked his car near Maine Road and some scally kid says "look after your car mister" and he points at the car with a dog inside and says "nah, he can look after it for me" and the kid says "good at pumping up tyres then that dog"?
 
I don`t remember shooting stars but it for some reason reminded me of the 1970 comedy series THE DUSTBIN MEN
i think it was Eric who was the City fan has shown in the opening scene in this clip
anyone else remember it?

a young keith allen played " southgate" and it was gary mcdonald who played the darren our star striker

It was Hamburg he was being transferred to not Barca. A lot of the footie footage came from Maine Rd game Vs Liverpool which we lost 4-2.
