Wiles toy shop next to Lewis"s.
A record shop (LPs) on John Dalton Street, & there was a greasy spoon all day breakfast cafe there too.
The sports bookshop in St. Ann's arcade.
I remember an ice cream shop with 100 flavours or so in the 1970s. I’m sure that it was called Stones But I don’t know where it was. Google shows nothing for this. Anyone else help?
The wonder of Woolworths late sixties and rendezvousing with grandmother in the upstairs restaurant to get ridiculously spoiled with proper nice new togs. Also Tib street as a child to see the pet shops and chip shops. We could wack it on the bus anywhere in greater Manchester for only 2p. Why are things so expensive today? I blame hypo inflation!
Bozo underneath the Royal Exchange. Some great designer clothes in there and it wasn’t too expensive. The shops underneath the Royal Exchange never got going again after the IRA bomb and we’ve never really had anything like it since.
