SHORTEST CITY CAREER

I managed a couple of appearances from the bench, making no telling contribution whatsoever. I blame Peter Reid - he ruined my blossoming career.

Steve Coppell...?

"Coppell left Palace in October 1996 to become manager of Manchester City, a job that he would quit after only six games and 33 days in charge. He cited the pressure of the job as his reason for leaving the club. His reign at the club is the shortest of any City manager to date." (Wikipedia)

no way did he manage for 6 games

Who was the guy we signed from Stockport about 20 years ago, and sold back to them not long after?
Thats who i was thinking of,it was their captain wasn,t it,a centre half, was it jim gannon?

What about Alphonse Gronendjik? Reidy bought him for about £400k. We'd chased Arthur Numan all sumer & he fooked us off for PSV so we got Alphonso. He played about an hour of the Everton away game prior to Reidy getting the boot & I never saw him again!

What happened to him?

Robert Hopkins in 1986 signed by Bily MacNeil just before he left for Villa and then promptly sold by Jimmy Friz 'cause his attitude stank apparently... probably about 4 weeks at the club as a perminant signing.
