shots on goal

Funny that I couted about 8..not on target obviously but its hard to find a gap woth ten defenders and seven attackers.

A bit of a stupid thing to be disgusted about on its own.

1. Its difficult to create clear cut chances when they've 8 men in the box. Its not like you're going to get a one on one.

2. We had plenty of "nearly" chances. The Bellamy shot. 2 Robinho chances. The Elano cross for Ireland. Richards just missing out on the end of Robbies cross.

The bigger problem is that we are only effective on the break, or when teams attack us. Red cards against Stoke and Man U effectively killed the game for us on both occasions. We miss the likes of Petrov and a big but talented fucker like Bojinov in games like this. As talented as Robbie, Stevie et al are, its a different ball game when trying to break down two tight flanks of 4 on a narrow pitch.

We had to get behind them and get to the byeline but we never achieved that, too many short passes with no end product.IMO not enough people willing to get stuck in and try to match stoke in a physical battle(you have to earn the right to play)

See I disagree. We have plenty of people willing to scrap. The problem is they're all 5 foot 3 so we've one way of playing - and that was of playing just doesn't work against a blanket defence.

We tried to play through them without imo looking like we were going to score,if we could have got behind them and cut in i am sure alarm bells would have been sounding and our attackers may have found the space needed to get quality strikes on goal with decent PASSES

Not enough movement...we needed diagonal runs to confuse their defense and create gaps but not enough players willing or didn't have the savvy to do it

Also Slow build up played into their hands so we ended up shotting at defenders legs. Hence few on target or we just skied the ball.
