fucking bang on.
Correct, but the system is weighted against people like me. My wife is going through all sorts of shit in an effort to get a long term visa so she can live with me as a housewife, I support her on my salary so the public funds bit is not an issue. The thing is I work on contracts all over Europe and Asia, right now it happens I'm on a contract in UK. The system assumes that people like my wife are after residency and a British passport, this is not the case, all we want is to be able to live together (which hasn't been a problem in any other country I have worked in). Once my wife does finally pass all the requirements for the visa she then has a requirement to stay in UK for at least six months of the year which is a little awkward if I was to perhaps take another job in Sweden, Germany etc. The UK isn't in the Shengen agreement which means that even with the UK visa, work aside, it still wouldn't be straightforward to say pop over to Spain for a week's holiday or Ireland for a weekend break.
When I see things like the Eastern European girl on £34k a year in a house provided by the local government complaining that she needs a bigger house for all the brats she's knocked out with god knows how many fathers it really pisses me off.
