Should FFP be scrappped for something different

As much as I love United baiting as much as the next guy the simple fact is their debt is sustainable. The value of the club is so high the owners could sell up at anytime, pay off the debt and still have a crazy profit. They could even do what CFG have done, sell shares equal to their original investment and still own by far the majority of the club

Clubs like Leeds, Portsmouth, Rangers who over spent chasing glory are the reasons for FFP. The current rules don't work, maybe we should have no sympathy for Leeds but I sure miss them in the PL so would like others protected but don't have the answers

Before FFP investment in clubs was never scrutinised or questioned.

Then (UEFA’s and the PL’s) Cartel clubs realised they couldn’t compete with the new wave of billionaire owners, so they told UEFA and the PL to introduce FFP.(to protect their interests)

There was nothing noble or moral about FFP. It was a political act by the so called entitled clubs designed to protect their turf. Football administrators should stick to governing the laws of the game and organising competitions. Nothing more. There is no need for them to interfere with the financial arrangements of individual clubs. If the Uniteds and Leeds of this world want to run up debt, let them, it's their business model and their risk. If it goes tits up, it's their problem and no concern of the wider footballing world. If it works, that's also fine and shouldn't be interfered with.

Owners can take on debt that they can personally afford to pay off. If they want to spend and lose money to win they should be allowed to as long as they pay the debt before they wash their hands from the club.

The PIK notes were a personal debt on the Glazers and not on the club. There's no public information about how they paid them off but it would have involved further debt, albeit almost certainly not as crippling. That information is probably hidden in Delaware or the Cayman Islands. I've advanced the theory before that their United shares may well be security for all sorts of debts linked either to their purchase of United or their shopping mall business.

It’s certainly nice to know Mr Gill can look through all our accounts, whilst information on United is moved to the Cayman Islands as to remain hidden.

It would have been that in the first place, if Sheikh Mansour had taken over at Utd or Liverpool, or AC milan.

It's never been anything to do with 'safeguarding' clubs spending. If it was, they would have brought it in at the time Leeds ended up in the shit & Ken Bates almost put Chelsea out of business (or maybe when Michael Knighton almost bought Utd for some beans).
I’m sure cumudgenly old uncle David, and his sour faced band off evil little munchkins are busy cooking up new, dastardlier, deeds, even as I write.

Seems like the entire purpose of FFP is to ensure teams like Man United, Barcelona, Real etc retain their dominance and not allow new teams to challenge them.
