Only you can know, but you won’t know until you try.
Go, see, assess, decide.

You don't have a decision to make until you've applied and been offered the job even if you are being headhunted.
Go for it. The interview process might confirm that you are right to leave/or stay where you are.
Evening Mooners,
I need some help. I have been in the same job for around 15 years and have pretty much enjoyed most of my time there. I am fairly high in the chain as it is an SME business and report directly to the MD.
Relationship with them is very good.
However I have been approached about applying for a job that is a little further away (additional 30 miles) but not much in it.
The big difference is the company is a big business, multi million pound turnover with offices all over the world.
New prospect advantages - higher salary (+16k), opportunity to progress even further
New prospect disadvantages - I am new, easy to drop should things not work (this is my biggest concern, not because I don’t back myself, I just know how the world works). I have mortgage, kids and main bread winner by some distance
Current job advantages - safe, secure job with a decent salary
Current job disadvantages - progression is minimal, am I a little bored and lacking motivation because I can do it with my eyes closed
Whilst my current job does come with a decent salary, I’m not sure how good it is as I have recently had some social conversations and people in jobs that ‘appear to me’ to be much easier, less responsibility etc are now coming quite closer to what I earn.
It’s not all about the money however it is important. I have just never worked for a big business before and it’s scary the thought of change. But I fully understand that you can’t and won’t progress until you do things that are a little scary and out of your comfort zone.
What do you think?
You wouldn't believe the money multi million businesses throw at good performance, car allowance, pension contributions, bonuses ect. If its a secure role make the move or at least make the move towards doing so , there may be a counter offer from your current employer.
You work for Blockbusters don't you?
ECT? That's a bit extreme. Normally a verbal bollocking is enough. You wouldn't believe the money multi million businesses throw at good performance, car allowance, pension contributions, bonuses ect. That's gone over my head , no idea what you mean, shall I goggle it?ECT? That's a bit extreme. Normally a verbal bollocking is enough.
