Should it have stood?

Wasn’t offside but was a foul in build up. 2nd goal shouldn’t of stood but our own failings resulted in defeat

It’s absolutely bonkers how many times the offside law has been re-written to the extent that you are never 100% what will or won’t be given.

The good old days would have seen that the pass was intended for the striker who was offside and who did attempt to get to it and brushed off his foot to fucking boot.

And that’s all before the fact Dembele caught Laporte and gained a material advantage.

They are needing to make rules (Offside/handball etc) and stick with them for more than one or two seasons. I think we are one of the few teams around who wouldn’t get that decision but I know a few that would have.

The goal shouldn't have stood as there was clear foul on Laporte in the build up who was in a good position to intervene.

The other bit, imo was fine. Their lad is in an "offside" position but deliberately doesnt touch the ball so imo he doesnt "interfere" with play so the full offence of offside isnt complete.

dont worry, they’ll change the rules for next season .... and we’ll end up having a significant goal chalked off for the new rule change. That’s what normally happens isn’t it?

That ref you speak of was Pete Walton who is a complete chopper that hates us.
He does but pointy and the other guy kept on his case.... he almost choked saying it was a foul and should have been disallowed. When fucking Walton is on your side you know you've been proper shit on.

Not making excuses as we deserved to be dumped out due to our inept and cowardly set up but that’s another story.

Their second goal though? Regardless of whether it brushes his foot or not I just can’t get my head around how he’s not deemed as offside. He interacts with the ball by skipping over it, it’s a dummy so he’s manipulating the ball which is interfering with play from an offside position.

I can’t think of any examples but I’m sure I’ve seen plenty of similar incidents given as offside hence my confusion.

please can someone explain to me the rules as I thought I understood them?
So the next time an offside player dummies the ball, it's ok, the goal stands, or is it a temporary rule just brought in for us ?
