That's fair enough, but encouraging today's kids to sign up to the army is not what you're asking for. You elected to sign up to the army - making National Service mandatory removes that choice. You're asking for something to be made mandatory that you yourself did not do and are not old enough to have ever done.
And may I remind you that, regardless of our respective histories, you are now also sat behind a keyboard like me. For what it's worth, a list of chronic illnesses I suffer from mean I would be medically exempt from joining the army in the first place. You seem to be trying to win a game called Best British Patriot that I'm not even interested in playing.
