Should Navas be starting games?

IMO Yes. Not only does he keep us in balance and cause a lot of headaches for defenders, he is excellent at supporting our defence. Oh, and he can run all night too.

Just hope Peller stops tinkering this success formula.

-------------------------Kun----------------------------

Sterling-------------Silva (KDB)----------------Navas

Depends on the game and the opponent. It's hard work chasing City around and there was a deliberate plan to stretch Everton after HT.

Seemed to work. Got a feeling if he had started he'd have been nullified early on.

I'd agree with this. It's probably less of an issue now, as I'd expect him to start most games with De Bruyne out, anyway. But in general - and as much as I rate Navas for what he brings to the side - I don't subscribe to the view that we have to have him and Sterling as our two wide men. The argument that they stretch the game is entirely valid; but then a great deal of our best play over the past few years has been based on getting the likes of Toure, Silva, Nasri, Aguero etc. close together, rather than having our attackers spread as wide as possible. And as much as playing with the two of them does give us balance, I'm not sure that's imperative to our success - we didn't set much stall by having balance out wide in either of the previous title-winning seasons, and didn't look too bad mauling Newcastle this season with Navas wide right, and De Bruyne playing more narrow from the left.

He's still frustrating the life out of me. There was a couple of occasions last night when Everton's defence had a high line. Silva was on the ball & you could see he wanted Navas to make a forward run beyond the defence but he was just static.
Also near the end of the match he was one on one with Baines I think & he decided to try and cut inside instead of running the ball into the corner.

Horses for courses

Navas is better starting games against teams that have full backs that push forward, it nulifies the oppositions threat and also allows space in behind when we win the ball back quickly, teams like Everton and Southampton are the type of teams he needs to be picked. As seen last weekend he was not as effective against West Ham.

When he comes dodging in from the right it's like we take on another gear. I think he fits more as a super sub. Kicks the team in the ass.

I'd be very interested to know what the win percentage stats are with Navas playing. If anyone has the info I'd be really interested to know.

I hope nothing but the best for De Bruyne, really hope he comes back fit and healthy as soon as possible, he was sensational last night.

There was an interesting stat in the Telegraph today that said our win percentage with Kev in the side is 41.2%, and our win percentage without him in the side is 100%.

Of course there are always other factors to consider but would be interesting to know the stats for Navas.

Away from home i'd play him every time.

Dinho and Delph in front of the back 4. Navas and Sterling wide. Silva sat off Kun.

Sit back more, perfect team for counter attacking.

Tire the full back out a bit and bring him on to cause havoc!

He always looks as though he can shift an upto then reasonably solid defence into something that doesn't know whether it needs a shit or a haircut. He injects speed into a system that has been a little pedestrian, whether it is his own pace or simply shifting the ball up, down and across the pitch at speed.
