Should the "non Big 2" spanish clubs go on strike

Not that I've heard anything about a strike but the TV rights deal for Spain is one of the most fiddled in the world. Madrid and Barca trouser about e140m whilst 3rd place gets e48m. 13 of the La Liga clubs get less than e20m revenue from TV.

This is the sort of fiddle that the chairman of Liverpool brought up and whilst it may suit the "Top 6" it would mean the death of EPL as a competitive sport and we'd end up with a similar league to the SPL & La Liga. It was bad enough when we had a "Top 4" trousering all the CL revenue for 2 decades and any clubs trying to break into that clique just got raped of their best players if they ever got close.

If I was the CEO of Valencia, At. Madrid etc I'd be threatening to go on strike unless they shared the money out equally. It's like someone working next to you, doing the same job, who's earning 7 times your salary just because they've got nice hair and big tits. The only downside I could see would be the real possibility that it could prompt a break-away european super league initiated by RM and Barca.

As another point, how can FFPR be taken seriously when there is such a huge injustice in how the TV money is doled out in Spain.

Didn't they go on strike last season over this?

i bet a lot of countries are similar.i read an article about italy, burlisconi,ex president of the country, owner of milan and owner of the tv station with the screening rights to seria a.strangely enough, the majority of the money goes to HIS club-milan.but it is something like 35%,inter were next with about 25%,roma got 20% and lazio 10%,the other 10% went between all the other teams! (juve had been relegated)
at the time, all the other teams were thinking of striking in some way,but had to fill various obligations for matches etc. so they decided when they played any of the top teams, they would field not their 1st team or the reserves but a team of under 18's,so as to make a mockery of the league.to say,if you want an unfair playing field, you can have it!

also,a rival tv station that wanted a share of the rights (but strangely didnt get any),had a live scores show, but obviously couldnt show any of the games live. they decided to employ actors,on a park somewhere, and every time a goal was scored at a ground, the actors would put on the strips of the teams playing in that particular game, and re-enact the goal. alla fantasy football style. this then became more popular than the live games,as it had the comedy value of non footballers trying to re-enact professionals

You've been here long enough; you know the drill.

Yes they should. A European Super League cant happen without the big teams from here and Germany where although not perfect is far more of an even playing field.

Are you sure you're not thinking of the Italian player strike at the start of the season just finished? That wasn't over anything like this, that was over the government removing a law which said that footballers didn't have to pay the same tax rates that everyone else on their salaries do.

Lol! There's a man with focus and an eye for the important detail!

I hope they do go on strike, play their under 21s against Barca and Real or something to make a stand. Greed knows no limit.

Love the idea of everyone else playing extremely weakened sides against the greedy top two with a 5 foot 7 left back in goal and the keeper upfront. How much for a season ticket at Camp Nou or Bernabeu when you're only watching one competitive match a season? Then have a trophy given to who comes third.

They shouldn't strike just forfeit there matches against the big 2 teams forcing tv to show other teams in the league and then force a fair tv deal for the league. If they were to strike Madrid and barca would just arrange friendly matches all over the world and take in bucket loads of cash making the gulf even bigger. If the teams wait to a day or two before the fixture then forfeit it will mean the big two are at least hamstrung in that they will have to be in Spain incase they do decide to play. I can't imagine the fans/tv company would let the status quo continue for long if barca and Madrid only played 2 games a year. It would even further make a mockery of platini and uefa if they would be forced to include them in champions league as champions and runners up having only played 2 games to get there
