A natural false 9 is typically a midfielder. Unless you meant a forward that likes to come deep.

Wouldn’t say KDB is anywhere near world class as a false 9. Think Torres is the closest we have to a real false 9. Not sure who is out there that we could target as a world class false 9 in the way Messi was though , or even close.

Torres doesn’t play anything like a false 9 imo, in fact he’s more like a classic striker. Spends his entire game making runs in behind the defence when he plays central.

As others have said, there isn’t a true false 9 out there (maybe Felix?). We just need someone that fits our fluid system up front and knows where the net is.

I'd have a proper CF like Alfie's lad in the bag for January but top of the table after a none existent pre-season with the order of games stacked against us, let alone the refs......I'm going to say what Pep wants is whatever I want at the moment, there's also the issue of having a CF stops most of our overload I'm midfield.

We need a CF, against teams who come to the Etihad and just park the bus. A false 9 works against teams who want to come out and play against us, like most of the bigger teams, but there are many who just sit back, thats when we need to mix it up with a CF who can give us a bit of hight on the end of a cross. We miss that option and we need to have as many options in our locker.

I think the realisation is we need a different aspect to our game in a traditional #9. If we planned to just play a false 9 no acquisition needed.
