Shout out to the politics forum

Because Lees is just above Robbies on the tastes like dishwater strained through an old sock level of standards.

Disclaimer: I actually don't mind MPA and Plum Pudding from them or trooper from robbies but the rest are shite
Robbies Best Bitter, Robbies Dark Mild and Robbies Old Tom are 3 of the finest ales you will ever drink, if and its a big if they are looked after properly in the cellar. Robbies beer is very temperamental and needs love and tenderness to produce it perfectly from the pump. It is also better if pulled from a half pull pump rather than the modern fad of quarter pull. Old Tom if looked after properly, with nothing filtered back in back and put to bed every night starts at 8.5% abv but if done properly on the 6th week after originally tap and venting it can be as high as 30% abv as it secondary ferments.

It is a shame the Dark Mild is so rare as that is beautiful mild.

I'd agree with a lot on here about the Politics Forum - and the Matchday Thread histrionics too - and I have always been a big supporter of the Politics Forum when people talk about getting it shut down. One thing that really surprises me though is how much it has shown how thin skinned some people can be.

I have no idea why rag and dipper snoopers go in the other threads to post stuff to rile people up if they want to cause carnage say something controversial in here - BOOM!! Their work would be done lol.
People get passionate about politics pal, I know I do. I also get frustrated at the lack of Political education in this country, i believe it should be taught to everyone at school because in a democracy people should be encouraged to participate and should also have an idea of what they are voting for and why. It is because of the lack of education so many myths becomes truths. Of course I can't see a Government of any hue wanting to introduce Politics as a core subject as that would then make it harder for them to tell lies.

A politics forum like this one should be a place where a frank exchange of views is welcomed and it should be a place where everyday is a school day as all the regular posters have so much to offer and from such different perspectives and backgrounds. People do get thin skinned though, nobody likes to have their views ridiculed or dissected as being the scribblings of a village idiot but we sometimes forget that even the village idiot has a vote and that all of us can be that village idiot on our day.

My youthful years drinking on the old road and hyde rd may have shaped my taste for the ales of Manchester, several boddingtons houses when still a Manc brew where the cask boddies was always nice.
Then you had the plough, the robbies house beer was rotten, the waggon n horses mind had a lovely pint of holts on cask.

I don't mind unicorn tbf if it is on in pub

The reason it smells is because the Landlord is fucking useless at keeping beer. It is an acquired taste Robbies though and its a marmite beer, you either love it or hate it.

My current local is a Hydes pub, the Bitter in there is superb, its well kept and i cant recall ever having a bad pint which for real ale is amazing.

When Boddies was proper Boddies i could sink that for fun, i also love Holts Mild and i can drink Lees as that is the ale in the Millstone.

What happened to our pre christmas peace, love and mitual respect for each other on all of the political spectrum this thread fostered?

The sub forum seems to have had some insipid nastiness rear it's head again

It was so lovely for a while we all had civil conversations

Maybe it was the christmas spirit all pipes of peace style ;-)
