Showsec - again

I think half the problem is the 5 to 3 brigade all spilling out of pubs and expecting to waltz on in without delay and people trying to smuggle cans of lager in doesn't help matters. The Club need to start giving points to people willing to enter 30 minutes before kick off. I myself roll up late as i like a pint or 6 before the game but if there is cues, so be it. There is always going to be searches. Are the cues as bad from 2 to 2.30?

As someone who also normally rolls up about 10 to I have been early the last couple of games(about 30 mins) and the queues are there then too, expecting people to be in the ground an hr to 30 mins before kick off and sit around bored is not gonna happen.

I bet the point whores would for say, 10 points?

True.

Tbf if city sorted out the bars and offered decent beers at a reasonable price then going in 45 mins before and having a pint inside might appeal to more.

On a serious note, we always had the bag search on K1 and K2 but were allowed our crisps / soft drink in, but this season some showsec twat on K1 had a table full of crisp packets, chocolate, bottles of soft drink, piled high confiscated next to him - looked like he was opening a sweet shop.. so we went to K2, and te bloke let us in when he saw them but told us not to eat them inside.. he got quite a mouthful off my 73 year old mother about she's not being forced to buy things inside etc etc etc needs drink for tablest etc and also we'er veggie and food inside is crap etc etc (i had to them shove her along reminding her that actually they were letting us in with them but if she carries on like that much longer i reckon we'd be banned!).
Point is, yep they've turned into food and drink nazis this season, even on women and old old women..

I don't see the issue, I personally am glad that security is high profile at game no matter how effective it actually is. I'm sure if nothing was done security wise and a terrible event was to occur this forum would be awash with people being hugely critical of the club. Sadly it is the age we live in and if you want to blame anyone blame extremism and not the club or the guys on the front line trying to earn a living.
I don't have a problem with being searched , It's gone on for years at football, but please don't use the " in this day and age" as a excuse, we've have terrorism in this country for decades, plus hooliganism since the 70's. what's happening at City is really OTT, this bag searching stuff is happening at all City game , U18,U23 and the Women's games too, with a friend of mine stop from going in the U19 City verse Barca game because he had chips, I watch the stewards (City not Showsec) searching through kids bags at the Women's games and I think why , what are they hoping to find ? and if people point at what happened last year in Paris at the International match, well them guys didn't get into the stadium, but blew themselves up outside at the turnstiles, so these checks will not stop that !
Like the Showsec guy said, don't blame them, blame the guy at the top , the guy that gives the orders out , the guy that gives Showsec the contract in the first place !

That's disgusting, what sort of a club are we becoming ?

I would love to hear if this sort of shit happens at grounds in Italy or Germany.
If ALL fans boycotted ALL merchandise (City Square and the vendors inside the ground) for even one game, I would bet that things would change.

Well no shit sherlock... You aren't exactly going to say anything else are you.

Showsec are shit and are the laughing stock of the security industry.

Funny all the contracts they get then? I dont like everything they do , im just a lowly steward im not here as a manager in the company

Like with everything to do with City, someone has to be blamed and rarely those who deserve it. Well done for having the bottle to put your head above the parapet mate. to allow people their daily dose. They proclaim at every opportunity to be 'working class' yet having a go at those who get the minimum wage and perceive them as being so thick they deserve the minimum wage.

Your correspondent must be some sort of expert at event security if he knows Show Sec are the 'laughing stock of the security industry'. We are lucky to have such experts as City fans.

It isn't funny and it isn't a coincidence that they get big contracts.
It's like arguing that McDonalds is the best restaurant in the world :/
When we all know it's shit food.

It's nothing personal between me and you.
There are many showsec staff who know what they are doing however what I did say is that they are the laughing stock of the security industry and I stick with this view and this is due to the piss poor recruitment and the amount of showsec staff myself and many others have come across who are inept at providing security.

This isn't to say every single showsec employee is also shit.
This isn't true.

The same applies with g4s, and I have friends who work for g4s... They too employ willy nilly and the training is minimal.
Showsec training - watch a 20min video showing you how to spot suspect baggage left unattended in a public place.
Basic surveillance in some Hollywoodesque production.

It's a joke.
And working at the Etihad with showsec staff who could barely even speak English let alone know where public transport spots are, become Baffled at any other public interaction.
It has been comical working alongside showsec.
Some of the managers knew how to handle operations but again the recruitment seems to let them down by employing embeciles.

Weve lost a few top staff recently but feel were back on track, agree to disagree

Saw a young lad upset before the Everton game cos theses bullying twats took his chocolate FFs wouldn't be surprised if they shared them out after between themselves

I dont know what his link to Showsec is, i thought id come on and defend "Some" collegues, every company employs staff not good enough including City.

Think it depends which end you go in. Always seems fine in family stand. I always have a bag full of sweets and crap (3 to 4 hours each way with an 11 year old so I need it) . In fact what depresses me is when I go away with my son I never get searched now even going in e away end. Whilst I am not a hooligan I can't believe I look that bloody old that I look completely no threat. Somewhat insulted
