Lampard is not a leader, so can't see that happening

Rio is struggling to get in the rags team, let alone captain is country.

To be honest I can't wait to watch Rooney without having to hate him, he's an absolutely brilliant footballer who's currently(maybe not yet) at the peak of his game. I think he'd be a fine choice as England captain as long as he controls that temprement and stops moaning at referees as much, I'd obviously prefer gerrard or fatty frank though!
 
Barry is a good outsider I think.

Rio has hardly played
Rooney is not yet ready for it
Gerrard is out of form and will play out of position for England
Lampard - doubt it

Gareth has played nearly every game for Capello, in his favoured position and is squeaky clean off the pitch. He captained Villa so why not? Just think of the boost we would get from it.

Having said that I think it will be Gerrard
