It was the funniest thing I ever saw watching football and City.
It had been snowing heavily all week prior to the weekend and although the match was in doubt the game was played and City lost 2-0
I was stood in the paddock oblivious as to what was about to happen.
City fans were there in usual masses in the open end behind the goal with a few of us in the paddock.
The teams lined up to kick off with the Shrewsbury goalkeeper at the City fans end and City attacking towards our fans.
As soon as the referee signaled to start the City fans started throwing hundreds and hundreds of snowballs non stop which they had amassed without us noticing in the paddock at the Shrewsbury Goalkeeper.
He ran for his life towards the half way line with the snowballs continuing to hit him as he ran away.
The referee stopped play and an announcement was made for the bombardment to cease or the game would be abandoned.
City fans stopped immediately apart from the odd one which was thrown afterwards and we pathetically lost the match.
However i was thinking last night what sort of anti City media coverage we would have got now particularly following the coin throwing episodes.
I don't think the snowballs were even mentioned in the papers or TV but it was very funny at the time and typical of the fun we had on away days.
Was anyone there that day?
