Too easy to be clever Spindash but lets have some substance to your comment. If You want Fernandes for his attacking midfield qualities why give him the call and not Petrov. I assume and believe that I am correct that Hughes brought him on for his defensive ability (Now that is a joke)

My point is that Hughes was and is being villified for substituting Elano without anyone knowing the facts!!!! Who replaces him is missing the point the point is people have been screaming abuse at Hughes for taking off Elano are those people going to come on here and apologise for getting it so wrong I doubt it.

NO NO NO Chesterguy, thats not my point. My point is not that it was wrong to take off Elano. Only the people on the bench know the condition of the players on the pitch. THE point is why bring on Fernandes and not one of at least 3 other players who are more talented than him.

As I've already said I wouldn't have replaced Elano, if he wasn't fit to continue I would have made a straight swap with Petrov.

That may have been your point but there have been loads of posters on the forum slagging Hughes off for taking off Elano. Who replaces Elano is a valid discussion point but Hughes has been damned by many for just taking Elano off which in my opinion is just wrong
