Sick of the sight of C*ntona

Thanks Gary and great story about Cantona.

I've just been on Manchester Confidential which does seem a little more balanced in its approach...article on Adam Johnson, great picture of Dave Wallace.

I didn't think this was a particularly balanced piece:

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.manchesterconfidential.co.uk/News/General/Daft-City-poster-incites-United-paint-job_537.asp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.manchesterconfidential.co.uk ... ob_537.asp</a>

I will be quoting this in some of my writing because it ignores the fact that United used the 'banner' in an official advert for One United a few years earlier.

By a little more balance i meant than that other piece of shit of a website - which even has a section of pro rag songs and anti city songs - hundreds of 'em which is a total f*ckin p*ss take considering as they refer to us as a minor irritant.

I think you're being overly kind Gary - it's a horrid article in every sense!

What I find especially irritating is the (oft repeated nowadays) assertion that City should "keep quiet until they've won something". Utter bollocks. There's a lot more to football clubs than just winning trophies (thank f*ck...), and there's absolutely no reason why City, or any other club, shouldn't be able to promote itself however it wants.

Were United hiding under a rock during the 26 year spell when they didn't win the League? Or the 31 year gap between European Cup "victories"? Course not.

This is similar to the "history" crap that is constantly spouted now as well (see Neville's comments from the other week). For "history" of course, read "won something in living memory". Therefore, by that rationale, the teams that have won things in the recent past are allowed to keep on winning, but no other club is...

sky are trying to get their main subscriber base, off pub barstools clapping their team,
to clapping their 'club' in their living room.

hence the use use of this 'sac de merde' in their skysports ads.

i know a few reds who cringe at his latest activities - his aura was based on mystery/few interviews/his own man etc - not anymore, he's a total sellout

Do you think he should be hid under a bush in france wearing spy goggles?

I quite like the fact he is idolised by the rags but he doesn't give a sh*t about them.

Me too. I don't really mind him these days as he no longer plays for them and you can't deny that he's a character.

What was really funny though was how he retired at almost a moment's notice to become a beach bum or play volleyball or whatever in France and stuck to his guns despite his lionisation by the ragged hordes - why, a bit like their other hero: George Best, who retired - albeit at 27 - only to return to play for a succession of pub teams rather than them!

Sorry, Noel, but Best never danced on the graves of those that lost their lives in the Air Disaster by demanding that more of the proceeds of a game in their memory was skimmed off to meet their demands rather than where it was meant to go.
I have no time for the waste of talent and the waste of a liver that was the greatest ever footballer from "Our Wee Country," but the actions of cuntona at the "sorry we kicked you out of your home" game means that he is on a level with keane as the most despised rag of all time for me, but the swamp dwellers idolise him?
