Everything points to a Centerback. Anything else will be silly.
Our team is bloated as is.
Striker: Tevez, Aguer, Balo and Dzeko (I expect Dzeko to be sold.) There simply isn't enough playing time for 4 starting strikers. 2 Starters
Central Mid: SIlva, Nasri, Yaya, Barry, Milner, NIge, Jack (expect one to be going: Probably Nigel): 3 starters
Wingbacks: Clichy, Kolarov, Zabaletta, Micah, Milner, AJ: 2 starters
Central back: Vinnie, Lescott, Savic, Kolo: 3 Starters
It is clear where the weakness lies. Sure we could go in with Clichy, Zab, and Micah playing as backups wide CDs when necessary. But frankly, I'd rather have 3 Solid CDs, and have the Micah's Zaba's and Clichy should only play CD in emergencies.
Simply put, we are only in need of a CD. No other position is needed. Even if Dzeko leaves, we don't need a striker. Not Higuain, not Cavani, and not Van Persie.

Can't see it happening mate. A good alternative would be Navas but not sure if he's overcome his homesickness problem

Never seen him play or anything but people who play Football Manager swear by him
