precious? Ffs so are you saying it's acceptable for dogs to bark at people?

dogs should be on leads end of, too many people treat their like humans, WTF has a person shouting got to do with dog barking? Seriously?

Dogs shitting and irresponsible owners not cleaning it up is one of my pet hates, frankly fucking disgusting.

A dog barking is not necessarily a sign of aggression

I have two dogs. One is never on a lead and the other is always.

Both are trained to shit in the woods were kids don't go but if they do it anywhere else it gets picked up

Yesterday one of em cut their foot on broken glass that some fucking kids left lying around.

I didn't say a barking dog is aggressive, it is sometimes the perception of the person on the receiving end that will read it that way.

So you've trained them to specifically "shit in the woods"? That is very clever, not only that, you know exactly where kids aren't likely to venture. Well done.

In addition to this I notice your ESP skills are up there with the best, as you KNEW the kids left the glass for your dogs to walk on, could have been a pensioner couldn't it?

yes it is acceptable that they bark, and do poos, just don't walk in it, if you're so happy for horses to shit all over the streets especially on the way to games, you're just precious thinking we have a god given right to dominate the world when quite frankly we don't.

If roles were reversed you'd hate us for stopping you being who you naturally were, what's the difference?

I said barking specifically "at people" it may not be aggresive behaviour by the dog, but it can be perceived that way by the person. I never said I was happy for for horses to shit everywhere either. I'm precious? really? I just want owners to be responsible, and not lazy/disgusting in equal measure hardly precious is it?

I have had many dogs over the years and will have one again once the time is right, when I do have one I will keep it and on a lead and clean up its shit, no matter where it decides to leave its poop.

Steady on OJ, i'm only stating my dogs' behaviour and not trying to have a pop at you.

As for the points you raised, yes i have trained my dogs to shit in the undergrowth that i can't walk around in, never mind young kids. There's nothing 'clever' about this, it's the dogs natural behaviour.

And i have no need to use my extraordinary mental powers to know that it was kids that smashed their empty bottles right outside my back gate as i watched the little fuckers doing it.

it shouldn't have to go on a lead as long as it behaves itself, I have several dogs and I know one I would never be able to let off a lead but the others I can and they cause no trouble whatsoever.

And I'll go back to the horses, why should I(hypothetically) have to clean up dog shit when police don't clean up horse shit and every idiot on a night out who throws up in alleys etc. doesn't clean up after themselves?

I shouldn't.

I shouldn't.

Dogs can be volatile and unpredictable, there is a small risk that they behave abnormally from time to time, the number of times I've seen an owner say "oh its alright to stroke it, it won't bite you" only for the dog to growl/bark/snarl/bite, they then turn round and say "ooh its never done that before", yeah likely story.

I don't also understand why you think it's okay for you to allow your dog to shit where it wants without cleaning it, do you let it shit outside your own home then? what has horse shit got to do with anything, I wasn't talking about horse shit in the first place. Either way two wrongs don't make a right.

Take a carrier bag with you it's not difficult is it?

Fair enough I was maybe a bit harsh with my response.

All the dogs I have had in the past has done their business where they follow a scent from other dogs, not where you "teach" them to go. The toxins can also live in the dog faeces for up to three years, so I'd imagine its impossible to guarantee that people will never "discover" where you dog has been.

If i'd seen kids smashing bottles near my back gate I'd have made sure the dog would have avoided the area too, another good reason for having them on a lead.

Anyway, I think we know where each other stands on the subject.

-- Mon Mar 29, 2010 2:30 pm --
