DAVID SILVA is set to snub Real Madrid and sign a new £52m contract with Manchester City.
Silva has two years left on his current deal, but will put pen to paper on a new five-year contract worth almost £200,000 a week.
City officials met his advisers in Spain last week while Silva was busy helping his country win Euro 2012 and he is set to sign in the next few days.
Silva said: “My home is at City and I am totally satisfied there. My head is not at Real Madrid but at Manchester City.
“I’m grateful for my experience at City and I have improved as a player, in every sense, since I joined them. I didn’t know if I was capable of playing like this when I left Valencia.
“I’m on holiday right now, but my agents are negotiating a new deal with City and I think it’s likely we close it in a very short time.”
Silva has been a huge success at the Etihad since his £24m transfer in 2010 and helped Roberto Mancini’s men win the Premier League last season.
Some of the players, including Carlos Tevez, returned to training yesterday and Silva, 26, says he expects to see the club recruit more big-name signings.
“The club are preparing offers for players to improve the squad,” he said. “The project will be very ambitious.”
Meanwhile, Mancini will have to flog his outcasts before he can land No.1 target, Robin van Persie.
Emmanuel Adebayor, Roque Santa Cruz and Wayne Bridge are all expected to leave the club, while striker Edin Dzeko could also be sold.
Merlin will be staying at City.
Lipton = Bullshitter of the highest order who as other people have already stated regarding his assessment of Aguero comes out with utter nonsense.
