Why did Cussons leave Manchester City as director in 1986? I know he owned that soap company.

I think he sold his stake in the club having bought it for £5000 back in the day.

He did .....
he sold his city shares in 1985 , can't really see any real reason why other than for it to free up time for him to indulge in other things that he wanted to do ..... yep , he's a member of the cussons imperial leather soap family , but he's also a keen golfer , and apparently he's keen on cricket too ...... but you have to remember that back in those turbulent days City were hardly a 'steady bet' for investment of any kind , and with Cussons being a lifelong City fan , he invested in the club more to help the club itself , rather than in the hope of achieving personal gain.
Think he lives Chester way now .....

I don't think he has any part in Cussons anymore....they are owned by a company called Patterson Zackonis (sp) which is owned majority wise by a Greek family.....I think
