1] 20p in copper is the legal max a retailer/bus etc will accept
2] Don't be a cnut, service workers are treated like shite, paid a pittance, be nice and smile

well said.

everyone should be made to work in a shop/supermarket for 6 months and see what tossers some of the customers can be.

What annoys me is people paying by bloody card for stuff that costs less than a tenner, particularly when there is a cash machine in the shop which doesn't charge. Sometimes they even get cashback. That is just selfish.

When queueing you want to pick a queue with mainly men in because they are more likely to pay using money. Also, women, for all the shopping they do, they always seem surprised when asked to pay. Suddenly they start fumbling around in their tardis like bags for a purse and then either for money within said purse or a card. They have to be shown how to put the card into the chip and pin reader even though they've probably done it a hundred times before.

WOMEN: Have your method of payment ready when you reach the till. Otherwise you're wasting all of our time.

masterwig you disappoint me I thought you were an educated guy ok you like muffin cakes but even so have you ever had the back of your heel smashed into by a women pushing a shopping trolley no I didn't think so more likely by a wacky racer man ............ and trust me I know how to use my card maybe a little to well lol

It is a question of being polite. Always ask before I give them a pocketful of shrapnel Normally the girls want your lose change because normally haven't got any in the tills.

I have a mate who is really skint. He's paid for stuff in 5ps before. There was a time we were in Netto and had vouchers for free stuff. He got loads of free food with the vouchers and bought a crate of beer with 5ps. There were loads of them. I was a bit embarrassed but at the end of the day it's money and if it's all you have then you have no choice. I have loads bagged up ready to change at the bank for pound coins.

What are your thoughts on 'exact change'? For example buying something that costs £7.09 and giving them a tenner plus 9p in coins so that you get three £1 coins as change. I don't usually do that but a mate of mine was saying it is only polite to do so. That said, when I have attempted it the look of confusion on the checkout operator's face has put me off. They handed back the extra change meaning I had to explain what I was up to.

Hand over your money, take your change, end of encounter.

Worked in customer service for over 2 years, all we wanted was as little hassle as possible. Both sides just be polite, and get it done with the minimum of fuss.
