Sinclair to Cardiff in Summer

Can't really blame Sinclair. Our system was width-impaired. To buy a player that enjoyed hugging the touch line and rarely receive it was simply unjust.

I reckon he'd probably have a had a shot under Pellegrini. A manager that teaches attackers to run into the spaces and make chances was desperately needed by the end of the Mancini era. Still the same he was a great manager. But the player simply didn't fit.

He wouldn't. He was way out of his depth. Just a shit, typical english winger. Will never cut it at a half decent team, anywhere
Totally agree. I remember him coming on when we were cruising in a game. Silva played a ball behind the full back but he just wasn't alert to it at all.
Many footballers are quick but without an understanding they can't cut it at the very top.

I don't blame Sinclair, he didn't do anything wrong, but whoever was responsible for getting rid of Adam Johnson and signing Sinclair instead is someone I can surely blame. It's also unfair to blame Mancini. Clearly Pellegrini took a look at him and decided he wasn't good enough either.

Not the lads fault he was signed.

Bizarre to say the least what happened and wish him all the best when he goes.

It was probably somebody behind the scenes who did essentially what pundits do- blagged it and tried taking a short cut rather than doing their homework and providing proper analysis. If you think about it Adam Johnson and Sinclair were on the face of it (to an idiot at least) quite similar- they were both stand out players in the championship, but with closer inspection the differences become obvious. One is genuinely talented, and when he wants to can have a huge impact from open play, but needs to apply himself better. The other is a journeyman at 24 and had spells at 11 different clubs (including loans), whose impact was exaggerated by his spell as the penalty kick taker for Swansea.

This is probably the closest I've seen to a perfect answer to the question of how and why we ended up with such a very limited winger in Sinclair. When we shipped out AJ we really should have done better.
