my ex-Mrs used to play this out at top volume - it was only after the split I found out she was meaning her new beau and not me.

All water under the bridge now its 30 years ago I can appreciate the quality of the vocals and forget the cheating ex

Pedant here .... technically not a true cover version, as from what I hear Prince gave it her before ever recording it for release himself. But yup, as much as I love Prince her version is better.

I think Prince wrote it for a Side project “the Family‘ who released it on their album in 1985. Sinead’s version was recorded in 1990 - so it was a cover version but not by Prince.
