Size of Celtic and Rangers compared to top English clubs

Big clubs, Rangers domestic support is a colossus especially. They both have a hardcore support in parts of Ulster, again I’d say Rangers would tend to be bigger there.
Celtic have a smaller support in the South but it’s still there with various supporters clubs. Nothing like the support for United/pool though and maybe not as big as some of the bigger league of Ireland clubs now, Rovers and Bohs especially.

Celtic tend to have a lot more ‘softer’ support in my view, 2nd generation types who have them as their second team, Boel Gallagher, Jonny Marr etc. This is a thing in many cities with a big Irish diaspora, Luton, North London, Liverpool.
I’ve also met far more Scottish Protestants that support Celtic than Catholics who support Rangers.
Financially, they’d catch up pretty quickly in a bigger league and would be powerhouses very quickly.
Is the sectarianism any worse than the unedifying rivalries elsewhere, I’m not so sure anymore. The way some people talk about Liverpudlians on this site is vile, rooted in a deep bigotry.
The same can be said for some of the utter filth you read about Mancunians on RAWK.

I went to a Madrid v Celtic friendly in Irish American Philadelphia, 22k and 20k were supporting Madrid
