What you need is a mitre saw. My old man has one, very easy to use.

Yes you can do it mate. I am no expert and fitted all mine. A good sharp saw and a plastic mitre box that you saw through to get the right angles. You can nail on and/or use no nails. (I used both). Then just spread some silicon gel/ decorators caulk to seal the gaps and cover any nails. You'll probably get some lengths wrong so overbuy on the skirting.

Got to admit, i'd rather be dead than attempt this! I have done it loads of times with beading for Laminate flooring, but thats flexible. I can't imagine doing skirting boards, but then again i'm pants at DIY so....!

Good to ask things like this though. Not long ago I asked for advice on regrouting my patio. Got loads of help on here and after a shaky start with the mixture, I got it spot on in the end and it looks fab. Good feeling too when you've tried something a bit tasking.

Nah! mate. if you are painting it ,remember paint and neat filler hides a multitude of sins, if its Bull-nose its easier. as Pigeonho say you get the satisfaction from doing it yourself and save dough. Or get a joiner off here if memory serves Sky tots a joiner.

But if its just bull nose then should be easy enough. can't recommend a decent mitre glue such as mitre mate for the joints. Spray one mitre glue on the other and hold in position for 10 secs locks in place. Sand it and fix.

If you live anywhere near broadway new moston you can if you like have the use of my eletric mitre saw, with this it's as they say a piece of piss to do all the cuts.

the two phrases that have stuck with me are " measure twice , cut once" and " feed the eye "

best to scribe in the internal corners.
cut the end of the skirting 45 degrees along one edge, scribe this cut end with a coping saw along the straight edge & round the moulding. this will now fit into the skirting at 90 degrees no messing with shonky corners.

Fit one length of board along the wall and right up to the corners. No cuts. nothing. Just straight.

Cut a bit off one spare piece of board.

Trace the outline shape onto your other length and cut it out so it slots into the length you've already fixed to the wall - leave a little thin overlap at the top ( it will look neater) Cut the other end to fit right up to the next wall and repeat.

Basically you are cutting out the shape of the board edge on one piece to make every corner.

Don't mess around with mitres. You will never get it right.

even if it does looks shit doing it this way you can easily hide all the fucked up bits with items of furniture. no one will ever know.

Piece of piss mate - I've just done 2 bedrooms and I'd never done a bit of DIY in my life. Just go for it - best bit of advice I've read here is to realise that no room is exactly square.
