For the term "the last laugh" it really should have a picture of Pep next to it. The guy is sharp as a razor with perfect delivery. It is a fine skill to make a comment that will get people talking but carrying on as if it was simply a tiny part of the over all point made. I suppose the term would be accurately described as faux dismissive ignorance.
If it is not the main point made but part of the structure laid down for a broader reason, or at least under that guise. The comments have more punch, he does this often and i admire it because as i say, it is not easy to pull off in any situation. Very often the "nudge nudge, wink wink" factor floods the listeners concentration turning it into a joke. Totally hiding that factor is an absolute oratorical skill.
Every word he say's is measured and thought out twice over, it serves him very well.
