He should talk to my mate whose mate paid £25 for 3 years. My mate says get one of the dodgy boxes off ebay. His mates mate pays £40 a year for all the channels including box office
I've no idea. Assume it's standard definition though. What's the picture quality like?
I forgot to mention that when Sky cut me off, I lost all the programmes i'd recorded on the Sky box hard drive including the cherished Stoke FA cup win and QPR game. I rang them when I noticed that the hard drive had been wiped arguing that when I recorded my chosen recordings, I had paid for them at the time so they had no right to erase my hard drive. They gave me some bullshit excuse, so if you do quit Sky, prepare to lose everything you've recorded.Around 15 months ago I opened a letter from sky telling me my monthly subscription was going up £3 to £78. I rang them up to tell them to cancel my subscription as I considered it too costly. Some smarmy twat said "it's only a £3 per month rise but we're now giving you MUTV". By this point I was fucking fuming and said "you're really taking the piss now i'm a City supporter".
That was that and they cut me off. Since then I bought a MX pro android box from Ebay. This is mainly good for films and 3pm Saturday Prem games although they have been hard to get recently. Also, a friend of a friend fitted me a dodgy Sky box for £110. I have to pay £45 per year to update the server software but I can get all the Sky channels and BT sport.
I would never of gone down this avenue as I have always paid for Sky subscription but Sky are taking the piss bigtime! They fleece you each month whilst showing you as many adverts as they can. They are slowly bringing in pay per view to be a normal thing whilst they charge 15 quid(or whatever) for a Boxing match for instance whilst showing you as many adverts as they can between rounds!
Can anyone help a total idiot out please? (Without getting too technical)
I currently have the full sky package, with 2 multirooms. A sky hd plus in the conservatory, a sky plus in the living room and a sky box in the daughters bedroom and with bt sport is about £98 per month. The broadband is bt infinity so should be up to the task of streaming.
Do I need 3 x dodgy boxes? 3 x freeview boxes plus some way of streaming films and football? Any initial cost would soon be offset by binning sky.
I would appreciate any advice, thanks.
Basically Phil you buy each user an android box, many choices around i should add and just connect to your wifi.
To be honest though i would only trust Virgin and a couple of smaller companies to handle the wifi demands you may carry.
All of you could stream at full 1080p with dts audio (posh audio) with no hassle. I have had 4 devices streaming 1080p myself and 1 streaming 2160p (4k) on the 152MB/s line they offer with no buffering.
Ok so we've been offered £35 off by asking to cancel. Going to cancel all but broadband and line rental. Anyone used Amazon fire stick? Going to hold our nerve and see what happens. When I cancelled I was offered 35% off which was a week ago then yesterday in a phone call I was offered 50% off then today 50% plus a £50 credit . Hold your nerve
Thanks TCIB, if I could just mither you a bit more?
Any particular android box? Also, I have only just upgraded from bt to bt infinity so I'm stuck for 18 months. Appear to be getting 70-80 mb, will this not be enough?
Thanks again buddy.
Infinity should be fine bud, sorry i missed you asking me hence late reply.
G-box is very good if you are looking at kodi/xbmc as they have a dedicated team of devs working on firmware and general user experience.
This is the top end one...

Techno mate boxes are better as you can record multiple channels and come with 12month Giff cards open channels .and for all footy movies there's new kid on the block Xbmc ouja has kodi but also games and comes with joypad £99 quidHave a look on Amazon/eBay at Openbox V8s. Every channel,sports/movies/box office for around £70 for 12 months. Then around £30 for for the next 12 months subscription and so on.
