We have some of our players linked with moves away such as AJ, Tevez. Dzeko and Kolorov that fans completely trash. We also get linked to the likes of Sinclair, Agger, JR, RVP and even Piqué that some on here rip into. I understand about opinions on different players but sometimes it verges on libel. A couple of questions
1. Do you think the club monitor sites like this to gauge fan reaction?
2 Do you think current and prospective players monitor sites like this ?

If so, does it matter?

These players get payed stupid amounts of money I thinks its within our rights to slag them off if they play shit. Having said that we should support them whatever happens on matchday.

Im pretty sure the club does look at the site to see opinions of fans ( not on transfers though) and certainly some players would look at the site especially the English ones.

1. Based on the signing of Craig Bellamy, absolutely not.
2. Possibly, I know I would be a little bit curious if I was a professional footballer.

Honestly don't think player's give a fuck about what the sites say. They may well look and they may well disagree but at the end of the day if a clubs paying a thick enough wedge for them to live in a 5m mansion then thats all that talks.

Saw Roy Keane today stood looking at Aston Martins in Wilmslow thats what interests them.

Slagging off City players is the worst City fan trait. Normally it's a full back but at the moment it's Kolo, Johnson and Dzeko who mainly get it in the neck.

Does it matter? Aside from helping to make us look like the pigs in Animal Farm a few years after the revolution. To misquote Animal Farm by George Orwell:
The creatures outside looked from blue to rag, and from rag to blue, and from
blue to rag again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

I think I'll give City Transfer Forums a miss from now on.

My thoughts more or less. This is what prompted the thread. Do not like the way some talk about players, but can understand the frustration at those that take the piss.

I understand the flapping when a player has a run of bad games for us. However the amount of people slagging Rodwell off before he has even made an appearance for us, is quite ridiculous. Personally I try not to slag a player off even if he is having a bad run of games, mainly because I think we should get behind all our players. Especially the one's that have recently signed.

We know players read this after Ireland said that he did and was shocked that time because of the abuse he was getting on here.

Personally I think anyone who really takes the opinions of all us keyboard warriors seriously is very silly.

its the transfer forum, most people only want superstar names if they dont get them and we sign players like barry or milner they get ripped in to.

I also dont like excessive negativity to our players. However it's inevitable on a free and open forum.
The likes of Dzeko will know how the majority of fans love him, from the warm reception/chanting his name at games.
There will always be posters that find fault but hopefully any future prospective players or existing players will know what passionate support most City fans give all our players at the Etihad.

My worry is that we become arrogant about players like United did, we need to trust Mancini, it is he who knows what is needed both in terms of players and overall team dynamics.
