I hope you are right. Unfortunately I expect us to go out to the first decent team we play.

Who do you class as decent in this competition? I don't think many teams I have watched have been impressive this tournament. Although teams like Spain, France, Belgium, Germany do have great teams on paper. Italy, Croatia are looking good so far.

I think this Euros is the best chance we have of winning a tournament since Euro 96 given the quality of the opposition.

Matuidi has been decent, Pogba has been poor bar the odd 20 minute spell in the first game and last game. Its Kante and Payet who i'd be concerned about though but France's defence can be got at.

I just can't see us getting past France if we make it to the quarters; their defence might not be great but they have so many quality players; we'll see though :)

Really? I think pogba and matuidi would have a field day against us

I see Coman/Griezmann/Payet as bigger threats. I think Dier and Kante are probably at the same level, Alli and Pogba isn't a huge gulf in quality in my opinion - Pogba hasn't done anything I've seen that justifies his hype. Rooney is a far better player than Matuidi, he might not run around as much but his quality on the ball is far better. Our defence has the pace to cope with the French, not sure it has the ability to handle Payet's skill mind. Vardy/Kane/Sturridge/Sterling would fancy their chances against Evra and Sagna and the French centre backs though. Would be a good game I'd imagine.

All those teams look better to me. But mainly I don't think we have looked anything but ineffectual, without any player who looks like they can make a difference on their own. Like i said somewhere before. Watching the Slovakia game was like watching us so often last season. A lot of toothless possession and no ideas other than a lot of short sideways passes. Suspect central defense. And managed by the tactically inept.

Unlike us England don't have a de Bryne, Aguero or Silva who can produce moments of magic. Wilshire shouldnt be there, Rooney is no longer half the player he was and lord knows what has happened to Kane.

But I would really love to be wrong and hope your optimism wins out over my been burned too many times pessimism.

I would say Kane, Alli, Sturridge and Vardy can all produce moments of magic.

Look at Alli's goal vs Palace, Kane's vs Arsenal, Vardy's against Liverpool and Sturridge in the Europa final.
