smoking on spiral stairs??

He is right though....technically the whole of the Sportcity area is officially no smoking. Even the outside areas.
I am a complete anti-smoker, however, even i would be happy to let you help kill yourselves on the spirals.....your slow deaths and all that.....so long as you selfish t*ats didn't smoke in the toilets and poison my nephews..... : )

I avoid havin 1 when am on the bottom tier but during this match i wont be able to cope, i waa thinkin i'd be out in the open air but i do see ur point

What is daft, even as a non smoker I find this stupid...as soon as you enter the gates of sportscity and light up you by council bye law are breaking the ban!!! It's not just inside the stadium it's the whole area is a designated workplace therefore you are technically not allowed to smoke and could be hit with a civil penalty notice!!!

I don't smoke myself, but it said in the programme a couple of months ago in a Points of Blue meeting report, that Manchester City Council don't have a problem with people smoking on the spiral stairways. It's a decision by the club.

If someone wants to go outside and have a fag at half time, then so be it, I'll be staying in the stand bored as ever watching the no expense spared 'entertainment'.

Stupid as it may seem to many of th enon smokers, this was one of the main reasons why i did not renew my season ticket a couple of years ago.
By council Bylaws it is against the law to smoke anywhere on council property, how many people have been prosecuted for smoking on Piccadilly Gardens (which is now almost entirely concrete), how many people have been prosecuted for smoking in the car parks round eastlands? the Spirals are not covered by the legislation, merely by council bylaws, therefore if Manchester City Council wished, the entire of the "open air aspect of Sports City could be deemed a Smoke safe area" they could.
If Derby County can have an enclosed open air area for nicoteen addicts to puff away at half time, thus making the enclosed areas safe for those that prefer the non toxic odours of Garlic, stale beer, BO, farts and bad breath, while the smokers puff themselves to death outside, surely that is for everyones benefit?

they're already enforcing non-smoking outside the stadium. I was outside the ground having a fag at the scunthorpe game at half time and an overzealous jobsworth came up to me and asked me to put it out. i laughed as i thought he was joking. couldn't believe it, he was serious!

You need to get out of 110 more mate. On the spirals I've seen fags, pipes, cigars and dare I say the odd joint being smoked at half time - you'll be like a pig in shit!!

Allright oprah calm down i was only wondering coz i've never been on the friggers, as a non-smoker u wont be on the stairs at half time anyway so the idea was to have a cig out of all non smokers way. I'm not turning this into a 'should smoking be allowed or banned' thread, i was only making sure chill out ffs

There were two gentlemen of the constabulary on the spiral on CBLevel3 South Stand end at halftime for the BBurn match! Not a soul or a fag to be seen. Phone the wife with the halftime report and I near had the spiral to meself.
