Smoking

Don't know why they have banned electric cigarettes (vapour?), less environmental impact and smell than farting. Don't have a problem with smoking on the spirals provided they are not obstructed and butts disposed off properly. I'm an ex-smoker.

try telling that to the 84, 564 who squeezed into maine road in 1934 to watch stoke.
get a fucking life.
And the key word in that sentence is "1934". Wake up - it's now 2015 and the world has changed somewhat in the past 80 years and one of those changes is that smoking is banned in public places such as restaurants, pubs, public transport places of work and ............the Etihad. However it seems that football supporters think they are exempt from these new regulations.

Smoking and standing are two subjects that come up time after time on bluemoon and most likely always will, as a non smoking/standing supporter hear is my two pennies worth.
The time has come in my opinion for City to change the clubs rule on smoking my seat is in 204 and at half time I go on the spiral along with 100 plus others 95% are smoking it does not bother me but to make it kosher I would put a red line 15 mts from the bottom and the top and put signs up saying smoking is allowed between these lines, train stations in Germany have such areas on the platforms, level 1 is were it seems most of the problems seem to arise and needs addressing could not a cage type extension be built onto the outside of the stadium.
Standing now seems to be allowed in most parts of the south stand so the need to stand in 109 has been addressed, if you go on the seat planner there are loads of seats now available this must have something to do with fans who wish to stand moving to the south stand this means most of the seats in 109 are now being bought on a match by match basis and the club do not want people to be put of by people standing, in the close season I if wishing to stand would be moving to the south stand.

Have a designated area for smokers and everyone would be happy. It really is that simple.

You're both missing the point. Have you seen the class action judgements and payouts made to people from cigarette manufacturers in the US? They've made films about them. Organisations will not risk bankruptcy in future years for failing to protect people. Yes, it's a bit daft, smoking areas outside should be provided, but until science proves smoking, passive and active, or vaping does no harm, the ban is here to stay.

No wonder football fans disregard the law on smoking in public areas, the very folk who made such laws, the MPs/Lords did exactly the same for years..

Only recently have they decided to abide by their own laws by banningg smoking except in 4 designated "external areas" within the houses of commons..

Perhaps the derided footy- fan smokers could be allowed the same relaxation of the regulations within the Etihad campus.
Then it wouldn,t be one rule for us and another for them.

As far as smoking IN the bogs is concerned , that would no longer be a problem, and the toilets could return to the traditional aroma of shit and piss, and the nasty cigarette smells would be gone for ever.hurrah!

In a stadium you have 50,000+ people in one place. I just can't see how it is practical because you would have to have multiple designated locations well outside the ground. They aren't allowed to put a designated location within the stadium as it is classed as a work and public place. It would be a 15 minute round trip at least to get to the bottom to light up and then come back for someone on the top tiers so then everyone would still moan and smoke in the spirals. Imagine what it would be like at half time?

It's far easier to just ban it all together and really is it that difficult for someone to hold off lighting up for 90 minutes.
