Snide satellite cards are legal and the Prem' Lge lose case.

So if this is the case, then Sky will probably reduce what it pays to broadcast in the UK, and the PL will need to charge foreign broadcasters more for the rights in their respective countries....either way, it's the viewers that will always end up paying more....the PL cannot afford to lose revenue and neither can most PL clubs

The only reason clubs have revenues at the level they are is because of competition for players in transfer fees and wages, if something reduces the revenue a club can generate EU-wide by a fairly uniform amount, then that isn't an issue. Players will simply be cheaper and wages lower as a result. There is no other reason for it. The only problem would come from outside the EU but that's always been the case.

I knocked sky sports on the head last summer, fed up with cost and anti City presenters etc. Purchased Tring Plus card(Albanian) and satellite system, total cost £450, card renewable every 12 months for around £250. You get all the ESPN/Sky games plus 4 3oclock saturday games. All City games i havent been able to attend this year have been shown. The only downside is the picture quality is not as good as sky but you do get English commentary.

$ky have bought the rights to broadcast most PL games, they then sell on this right to companies in other countries.
What they will do now is merely change the terms and conditions of those they sell to
to either charge a uniform rate (ie sell to pubs what $ky demand, which wont work), or have it enshrined in the contract they sign with overseas broadcasters that they will not supply cards and equipment to overseas customers.
Apologies if I'm wrong, but I always believed that Sky don't sell the games abroad, the Premier League does. From my understanding, the Premier League divvies its rights up into separate countries/regions and Sky simply have the right to broadcast in England, much like AD Sports have the Middle East and North Africa package, True have the Thai package, Sky Italia/Calcio have the Italian package, and Nova have the Greek package.

agreed, sky sell their coverage not the rights, sky have quite a few restrictions on coverage, footie first match choice after motd starts, no goals on ssn till after motd has finished

the 3pm rule has been around for 30yrs ever since live footie started in the early 80's
