Usually put winters on the front of my FWD but need new this year and cost of living bites. Theyre beneficial at 7 degrees or below, in any weather. Aquaplaning resistance is the single best reason to use them but braking grip is another. Either could save your life. Theyre mandatory in Germany
 
It used to snow each year on a regular basis in Manchester until the early 90's where it would be heavy and stick for 4, 5 days. Since then it snows and is sleet a few hours later. If your going to let it snow, let it snow properly or not at all. @theweathergods.
 
Yes, it can stay there. I don’t like the snow and ice. Frightened to death of slipping now that I’m in my early 60’s. I slipped on sheet ice when I was about 40 and went with a right bang on the side of my head got a right shiner, since then have been scared of slipping.
